Creatures of Cruelty/ Spirits of Learning
THE CHORUS IS US
The chorus begins as a hoard of swarming protesters hurling insults and doubts at the Survivor as a tree. They comprise the rough sea, reusing one of the pieces of fabric from inside of Survivor’s bark. They toss and turn Survivor until she can’t take any more and retreats inside herself. It is not until Rabbit helps them put on the glasses of enlightenment, that help them transfor from being creatures of cruelty to spirits of learning. In the end they are able to she their labcoats and release their true colors in a final expression of dance.
Pre-production:
Starting out in lab coats, to create a cold experimental vibe, the swirling around Survivor in the center holding signs shaming Survivor. They carry multicolored-unicorn glasses in their pockets that eventually help them transform into spirits capable of seeing and hearing Survivor.
Lastly, to express their joy at having been freed from cruelty, they shed their lab coats and reveal wild costumes full of glitter, color, and wings!
